Susan is a native Texan who claimed South Mississippi as her home in the early 80’s, after graduating from Louisiana State University. She is a licensed commercial pilot and working aerial and commercial photographer.
In addition to typical commercial photography studies in environmental and studio lighting in Santa Fe, she has studied fine art printing processes under George DeWolfe (who was mentored by both Ansel Adams and Minor White) and creative photographic imagery with Keith Carter (internationally recognized photographer and educator). .
Susan possesses a unique collection of aerial images of Coastal wetlands taken over her years of flight. Most photos were taken during those “aha” moments when a combination of marsh cuts and sunlight were just right. These images are a unique way of representing our Coastal recourses: A version not often seen by the earth bound.
Susan’s style of photography is intended to take us past our ordinary preconceived ideas and absolutes, and help us to look more closely at the thing or action underway. . Sometimes the idea of what is in the image is more strongly pronounced when looking at the subject in a new manner.
Susan is currently studying the art of Platinum Palladium print making, and other alternative printing processes. Look for these ‘one of’ art prints on display in the near future. |
